Walter S. Amaral Obituary
We announce the death of Walter S. Amaral of Westport, Massachusetts, who passed away on September 9, 2026, at the age of 87. Walter will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Maria C. "Mary" Amaral (Couto); his parents, Henry Amaral and Sylvana Amaral (Silva); and his brother Henry S. Amaral. He is survived by: his children, Walter D. Amaral (Debra) of Elgin, AZ, Catherine A. Fitch (Steven) of Westport, MA and Michelle Amaral (Misael) of Fall River, MA; his grandchildren, John and Rebekah; and his brothers-in-law, Joseph T. Couto of New Bedford and Stephen Couto of South Carolina. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 15th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Waring-Sullivan Home. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 at 9:30 AM at the same location. A funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Espirito Santo Church (311 Alden St, Fall River, MA 02723).
