He was predeceased by: his siblings, Paul Lane, John Lane and Therese Carroll. He is survived by: his wife Julia M. Lane (Foley); his children, Sharon Lane (Lise Marx) of Dedham, William D. Lane Jr. (Nadia Lane) of Dedham, Donna Camiolo (Andy) of Westwood and Shawn Lane of Burlington; his grandchildren, Michela Camiolo of Dedham, Daniel Camiolo of Boston, Emma Lane of South Burlington, VT, Maya Lane of Baltimore, MD, Logan and Lukas Lane of Carlisle; and his siblings, Joseph Lane of Naples, FL, Thomas Lane of Marlboro, James Lane of Marblehead and Mary Anne Merrigan of Milton.
