He is survived by: his wife Joan P. Merten (Mahoney) of Weymouth; his children, Therese (Dan), Sheila, Bernadette and Christopher (Sara); his grandchildren, Emma (Kevin), Augustus (Lissa), Maude (Mac), Kate, Chris, Ryan, Caroline, Teddy, Henry and Elizabeth; and his great grandchild Calvin.
