She was predeceased by: her parents, Mary "Gertrude" Lyons (Hicks) and Daniel Francis Lyons; her husband William Henry "Bill" McGowan; and her siblings, Veronica Hickey, Vincent, Jerome and Gerald Lyons.
She is survived by: her son-in-law Joe Maykis; her children, Anne Dalton (John) of Hingham, Tricia Ford (George) of Weymouth, Tom McGowan (Linh) of Canton, Joan Collins (Steve) of West Yarmouth, Edward McGowan (Jayne) of Braintree, Timothy McGowan (Elizabeth) of Weymouth, Kathy Maykis (Joe) of Weymouth and Dan McGowan (Jill) of Amherst, NH.; and her sister Bernice Richardson of Punta Gorda, FL. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Keohane Funeral Home (785 Hancock St, Quincy, MA 02170). A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 at 9:15 AM at the same location. A funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. Joseph's Parish (550 Washington St, Quincy, MA 02169).
In lieu of flowers, donations in Rita's name may be made to St. Joseph's Food Pantry, 556 Washington St., Quincy, MA or to the St. Boniface Haiti Foundation, 40 Glen Avenue, Newton, MA.
