He was predeceased by: his parents, Leland Salem Towne and Helen Towne (Wright); his wife Nancy M. Towne (McFerrin); his son David A. Towne Jr.; his grandson Shane David Towne; his son-in-law Steve Murphy; and his brother Leland Towne Jr..
He is survived by: his daughter Melanie T. Murphy Daniels (Edward); his grandchildren, Dana Vincent Murphy, Alys Cannon (Caleb), Jenni Murphy and Amanda Towne; his great grandchild James David Cannon; and his sister Marilyn Schlesinger (Richard). He is also survived by many cousins, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
