He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Paul Kowalczuk and Elvira Kowalczuk (LaTorre); his wife Christine Gebuhr; his sons, Pete and Tommy; his close friends, Paula Kowalczuk, Peter Kovar of Takoma Park, MD, John Kowalczuk, Diane Richardson of Addison, TX, Mary Kowalczuk and Steven Steinke of Arlington, MA; and his sibling's children, Sarah McBride, Paul Kovar, Anna Kowalczuk, Michael Kowalczuk, Alex Kowalczuk, Nicholas Kowalczuk, Karsten Steinke and Jay Steinke. He was also cherished by his wife and sons, George is survived by his siblings.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in George's memory to two research organizations, Cure IBM and The Peter Frampton Myositis Research Fund at Johns Hopkins.
