As Bettie departs from this earthly realm, her essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Bettie may no longer walk beside us, her spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Bettie leaves behind.

She was predeceased by: her parents, James B. Elkins of North Carolina and Annie Laura Babson of North Carolina; her former husband Nathan Palecki; and her husband Charles Lane. She is survived by: her children, Donna Fazio, Deborah Palecki and Nathan Palecki; her grandchildren, Paul Dunn, Corrine McInnes, Matthew Fazio and Bradley Tirrell; and her great grandchild Graham Dunn.
