The family announces the passing of Joseph Mason (Winthrop, Massachusetts) on October 12, 2026. Joseph, born on June 15, 1938, was part of many shared moments and relationships throughout life. He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph J. Mason and Magdelen R. Mason (Raskauskas); his siblings, Margaret Cappellano, Judith McCain and David Mason; his wife Arline; and his son Michael.

He is survived by: his children, Karen Mason, Kimberly Nichols and J. Mason; his grandchildren, Emily Nichols (Aidan Conlon) and Russell Nichols; and his close friend Lorraine Polo. He is also survived by in-laws, nieces, nephews, and countless friends.

Visitation was held on Monday, October 19th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Ernest P. Caggiano & Son Funeral Home (147 Winthrop St, Winthrop, MA 02152). A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the St. John the Evangelist Church (St. Michael's Parish) (320 Winthrop St, Winthrop, MA 02152).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The 11 Foundation: In Memory of Michael Mason, c/o 319 Bowdoin Street, Winthrop, MA 02152. Joe proudly served as the Foundation's Chairman Emeritus since its establishment in 2011.
