He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Nancy E. Boutwell (Pierce); his sons, Carleton M. Boutwell (Julie) of Winchester, Jeffrey P. Boutwell (Dyana) of North Reading and Todd M. Boutwell (Kristan) of Winchester; his grandchildren, Jackson, Taylor, Amelia, Nicholas, Presley, Grant and Warren; and his siblings, Ronald Boutwell (Jodi) of Merrimack, NH and Beth Hendricks of Woburn. He was also cherished by several nieces, nephews, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in Carl's honor to the MD Anderson Cancer Center, P.O. Box 4470, Houston, TX 77210-4470 to support their glioblastoma research program. (https://secure3.convio.net).
