He was predeceased by: his parents, Ambrose J. Powell and Verna L. Powell (Davis); his stepchild Krystle Wampler; and his brother Robert Powell. He is survived by: his wife Carole E. Miller-Powell (Dolham); his son Jesse J. Aste-Powell of Watertown; his stepchildren, Lisa Miller of Woburn, Linda Miller of Woburn, William Miller (Nicole) of Woburn and Nicole Miller of Woburn; his son Michael Edmunds; and his siblings, Linda Jacobs (Peter) of Medford, Ambrose Powell Jr. (Nancy) of Venezuela, Michael Powell, Brian Powell, Stephen Powell of Arlington, Mark Powell of Medford, Edward Powell and Patrick Powell. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
