He was predeceased by: his brother Joseph Bergin; and his niece Maryann Bergin-Laxton. He is survived by: his children, Christopher Bergin (Eileen) of Newbury, Susan Bergin of Maynard and Jane Bergin of Woburn; his significant other Irish Setter; and his nephews, Joe Bergin (Ginny) of Milton and Jack Bergin.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George's memory to St. Vincent de Paul Society of Woburn, 8 Summer St, Woburn, MA 01801.
