He was predeceased by: his parents, John Gerety and Emma Gerety (McDonough); his brothers, John Gerety and James Gerety; and his sister-in-law Janis Gerety.
He is survived by: his daughter Kristen Colby (Jared Colby); his granddaughter Adaline Colby; his brothers, Robert Gerety (Debbie) and Tom Gerety (Patti); his nieces and nephews, Annabelle, Matthew, John Gerety and Jocelyn Gerety; his great-nieces, Cora and Audrey Crow; his nephews, Bobby Gerety (Sarah) and Tom Gerety (Colleen); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Cameron and Whitney.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 4th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Monday, October 5th 2026 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the Dello Russo Family Funeral Home (60 Pleasant St, Woburn, MA 01801). A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 5th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the St. Charles Church (280 Main St, Woburn, MA 01801).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe's memory to the ALS Association.
