He was predeceased by : his son Angelo (Susan); and his brother Klaus Schmidt. He is survived by : his wife Lucy DiReda-Schmidt; and his daughters, Erika Creamer (Mark) and Sharon Doyle (Kevin).

Visitation was held on Friday, April 26th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Nordgren Memorial Chapel (300 Lincoln St, Worcester, MA 01605). A memorial service was held on Friday, April 26th 2024 at 8:00 PM at the same location.
