He was predeceased by: his wife Joan Durkin (Barry); his daughter Christine M. Durkin; his siblings, Anthony M. Durkin, Maryellen Deianna and Marguerite Hebert; and his parents, Mary Durkin (Guilfoyle) and Anthony Durkin.
He is survived by: his children, Patricia Durkin Franklin of Chicago, Maureen Durkin O'Connell (Charles Pecevich) of Ipswich, Eileen M. Barry (Kevin Harkins) of Mattapoisett, Timothy J. Durkin of Venice, Brian P. Durkin of Plum Island, Barcelona and Spain; his granddaughter Elise Franklin (Scott); his great grandchildren, Calla and Adele; his granddaughter Marisa Graybill (Raphael); his great grandchildren, Genevieve and Vivienne; his grandchildren, Garth Franklin (Anna Moore), Ryan O'Connell (Theophilus), Annie O'Connell, Michael, Maeve Barry, Connor, Leeanne, Maxx, Joan Durkin, Grace and Luke Menslage; and his siblings, Arlene F. Yenovkian (Donald), Kathleen F. Donoghue (Thomas) and Thomas F. Durkin (Judith). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, godchildren, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bridgewell, Inc., the nonprofit agency that supports John's granddaughter Annie.
