He is survived by: his wife Lynn (O'Connor Barrette); his siblings, James Phelan (Betty), Mary Ellen Phelan (John), Betsy Phelan (Paul), Terry Bogsted (Roger) and Peggy Phelan; his children, Luke and Rachael Phelan; his friend Bob Kissane (Jeanne); his stepchildren, Michaela Hayston and Kevin Barrette (Buzz); his siblings, Cynthia (Lou Ciavarra), Caryn O'Connor (Mike Holden) and Matt (Tracy O'Connor); his friends, Karyn, Annette, Jen O. and Brian; his grandchildren, Addie, Bo Barrette, Isla and Barrette Hayston; Jen and Danny.
