He was predeceased by: his parents, Levis W. Hayward and Lillian Hayward (Ryberg); his former wife Susan Hayward; and his wife Linda Hayward (Gelinas). He is survived by: his children, Melanie Hayward of Jefferson, MA and Jonathan Hayward (Kimberly) of Matthews, NC; his grandchildren, Jaime McNamara, Ashley Noyst, Alyson Martin, Jacob Hayward and Tyler Hayward; his stepchildren, Tara Barrett, Tanya Robideau, Tiffany Mosca and Edward Flanagan; and his sister Linda Roehl (Sharon Foust).
