He was predeceased by: his sons, Kevin McAvoy and Michael McAvoy, Jr.; his brothers, Thomas P. McAvoy and John E. McAvoy; and his parents, John I. McAvoy and Louis M. McAvoy (Boucher).

He is survived by: his brother Mark E. McAvoy (Sarah) of Austin, TX; his nephews, Eric McAvoy and Shane McAvoy of Leicester; his great-nieces, Chloe McAvoy and Scarlett McAvoy; and his close friends, Robert Stevens of Worcester and Dennis Gosler of Worcester.
