He was predeceased by: his siblings, Russell Smith, Thamass Gignilliat, Sr. and Bernice Fawe; his daughter Sharan Smith; his granddaughter Christine Montalvo; his great grandchildren, Devon and Kaiden; and his parents, Claude Gignilliat and Florence Gignilliat (Collins).
He is survived by: his children, Robert E. Gignilliat, Jr. (Ry) of Chicopee and Diane Francis of Burnt Church; his siblings, Brian Smith of Auburn and Della MaGee of Auburn; his daughter-in-law Ann; his grandchildren, Crystal, Chi Ann, Randy, Bonnie, Shane, Angel, Xavier, Whinona, Isahia, Melinda, Jeffrey, Amanda, Anjelica, Aubree and Jasmine; and his former wife Barbara Gignilliat-Morris. He is also survived by 36 great grandchildren, 16 great- great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
