He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas "Billy" Friend and Hazel Friend (Wing); his sister Kathy; and his brother-in-law Lenny Pizzarella. He is survived by: his siblings, Eileen Scampini (Joseph), Maureen Pizzarella, Joseph Friend (Debra) and Daniel Friend (Doreen); his niece Christeen Friend; his uncle Paul Friend; Aiden and Mason. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, cousins.
He also dedicated many hours each month, over the course of many years, to donating blood to The American Red Cross—a commitment he took great pride in.
