He was predeceased by: his parents, Tom Collins and Ruth Collins; his former wife Susan Collins; his sister Mary Simson; and his brother-in-law Paul McCord.
He is survived by: his wife Susan Coates; his son Timothy Collins (Sara); his stepsons, Michael, Chris and Steven Flake; his grandchildren, Ryan Collins, Mallory Collins and Emma Collins; and his siblings, Victor Wendt (Cindy) and Cindy McCord. He is also survived by extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 19th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Abingdon-McComas Family Funeral Homes (1317 Cokesbury Rd, Abingdon, MD 21009). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Cranberry United Methodist Church (1632 Perryman Rd, Aberdeen, MD 21001). A burial will be held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 at the St. George's Episcopal Church Cemetery (1504 Perryman Rd, Perryman, MD 21130).
