He was predeceased by: his parents, Brooks Broome, Sr. and Dorothy Ann Broome Weadon; his brothers, William Augustus Broome, Lawrence Allen Broome and Neil Broome; and his grandson Justin Roger Thompson.
He is survived by: his wife Peggy Day Alton; his daughters, Deborah Broome of Tennessee and Mary Candis Broome Thompson of Tennessee; his stepdaughters, Pamela Alton Duvall and Veronica Alton Coale (Thomas); his granddaughter Julie Ann Thompson; his stepgrandchildren, Glendon Turner III (Joanna), Krista Turner, Thomas Coale Jr. (Kelsey), Patricia Suniga (Albert) and Matthew Coale; his great grandchild Knox Candler Towe; and his brothers, John Charles Broome and Gene Broome. He is also survived by seven step great grandchildren.
