He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles N. Smith Sr. and Thelma Isaline Howard; his son Seth R. Lopatkiewicz; and his granddaughter Aliyah Smith. He is survived by: his wife Barbara L. Smith; his children, Tasha Hanegraaf (Stewart), Jennifer N. Jones (Van) and Charles N. Smith III (Ruth); and his siblings, Elena Yates (Ernest) and Dr. Tomas P. Smith-Howard (Camila). He is also survived by nine grandchildren, one great-grandchild, one niece, several nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
