He was predeceased by: his wife Catherine Hopkins; his siblings, Mary Spencer (Sissy), Emily Johnson (Dee-Dee), Ethel Ann Wells, George Hopkins Jr. and James Hopkins; his stepson James Lane (Jimmy); his siblings-in-law, Rose Bonner, Dora Brown, Helen Gamble, Delores Lane, Zelda Lane, Margaret Lane, Raymond Lane, John Lane, Jesse Lane, James R. Johnson and Alexander Spencer; and his siblings' children, Harold Spencer, Robert Johnson, James Lane (Jimboy), Janet Johnson and Penny Sellman.
He is survived by: his children, Derrick Hopkins (Grace), Gail Brown (David), Martha Hopkins and Willie Hopkins (Lisa); his stepchildren, Regina Reed (Roger), Patricia Hopkins (late George) and David Lane (Marcia); his aunt Credella Matthews (late Alexander); his siblings-in-law, Wanda Hopkins (late James), Dorothy Lane (late Jesse) and Paul Wells (late Ann); and his grandchildren, Brian (Caprice), Marecus (Chiquita), Katrina, Rashi, Jamahl (Shavonne), Kareem (Kia), Serena (Marc), Colin (Kara), Zachary (Olivia), William Jr., Tevon (Alicia), Lashaundra Nicole, Dominique, Luke, Mikoh, Derecka, Donald, Andre Miles and Andre Corley. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
