It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Harry Clifton Gottwals Sr. in Annapolis, Maryland, who passed away on July 12, 2023, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Mary Alice (Wigley) and Abram Ziegler Gottwals; his wife Mary; his children, Clif Gottwals of Highlands, NC, Philip Gottwals of Friendship, MD and Bill Gottwals (Kim) of Billings, MT.; and his grandchildren, Talbott, Stephanie, Daniel, Addison and Van.

In lieu of flowers memorials in Harrys' name to Friendship United Methodist Church will be appreciated. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared on this website for the Gottwals family.

“I knew Mary and Harry since hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. Their warmth and kindness was evident in their willingness to give of themselves to strangers. We became instant friends and they invited me to their home in Montana. I will never forget their hospitality. Mary’s gentle kindness and Harry’s burly personality extended to their granddaughter Addison who was also very welcoming to me. I share in your loss. My deepest sympathy Mary Crier”

“So sad to hear of Harry's passing. He was a fun, dynamic, intelligent, warm human being, man, father, husband, business man and dear relative. He was one of our mother's nephews, one of our beloved 1st cousins and an overall dear relative. We loved his visits to our family's farm in Missouri and we have many fond memories of him and Mary and also of him and his second wife, Lisa, who we adore. On behalf of the Thomas Family we send our sincere condolences to Lisa and to Harry's sons and grandchildren.”
