He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Edward Amos and Anna Kathryn Amos (Tolson); his wife Brenda; his daughter Kathryn (Chrissi); his sister Margaret Ann Murphy; and his brother-in-law Richard Miller.

He is survived by: his children, James Amos Jr. (Vicki) and Margaret Amos Dudek (Alan); his sisters, Kathryn Miller, Ellen Klimes (Bobby) and Alice; and his pet Chico. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
