With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Phillip Johnson Jr. of Annapolis, Maryland, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on September 7, 2025. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Phillip Sr. Johnson and Elizabeth Johnson; his siblings, Elizabeth O'Connor Gray, Atha Lavinia Johnson, Betty Mary Pringle and Louis Green; his siblings-in-law, Luther Gray, Issac Pringle, Mary Johnson, Joyce Johnson and Geraldine Corbett; and his cousin Melvin Clark.
He is survived by: his wife Suzanne D. Johnson of Newark; his daughter Phyllis Una Johnson; his grandchildren, Brandi Jovan Johnson and Jarred Lemar Johnson; his great grandchildren, Kahlon McCulllough of Huntsville Alabama and Kendall Johnson of Huntsville Alabama; his siblings, Louise Johnson, Joanne Parker (Joseph), Jack Johnson (Barbara) of Annapolis, Maryland and James Johnson of Annapolis, Maryland; his adoptive daughter Sharlette R. Saunders; his granddaughter Kenya Saunders; his cousin Veronica Johnson; and his friends, Harold, Joseph Brown, Charles Hicks and Lee. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, extended family.
Over the course of his military career, Phillip was certified as both an auto mechanic and a field communications specialist, he earned numerous certifications, awards, and accolades, each marking a chapter of excellence and contribution to the Army and his fellow soldiers.
