She was predeceased by: her parents, Edgar Ewell and Millie Henson-Ewell; her siblings, Shirley Calhoun, Minnie Holland, Louise Wemple, Deloris Colbert, Millie Johnson, George Brown, Sr., James Ewell and Joseph Henson; her significant other Lawrence Wemple, Jr.; her son Stanley Dorsey; her grandson Brandon Wemple; and her son-in-law William Howard.
She is survived by: her children, James A. Dorsey, Iris Surgeon, Velma Dorsey, Sheila Howard and Patricia Brown; her niece Shirley "Poochie" Johnson; her nephew Larry Gordon; her friend Leola Brown; and her son-in-law Michael Brown. She is also survived by 39 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren, 13 great-great-grandchildren.
