She was predeceased by: her parents, Maggie Thorne and Winston Thorne; her husband Bernie Otten; and her sister Kathy Bowman. She is survived by: her children, Dick Shaner (Donna Shaner), Dee Harding and Doug Shaner (Laura Dorsey-Shaner); her stepchildren, Patty Hilton (Chad Hilton), Christine Conley (Milton Conley) and Shelly Balkan (Evan Balkan); her siblings, Winston Thorne and Susan Mackintire; her grandchildren, Josh Shaner, David Shaner, Daniel Shaner, John Shaner, Hannah Capaldo, Sarah Shaner, Stephen Shaner, Joey Shaner, Allison Shaner, Eric Shaner, Marissa Budulanovic, Michael Harding, Amelia Balkan and Molly Balkan; and her great grandchildren, Teagan Budulanovic, Barrett Budulanovic, Zander Budulanovic, Kaylie Harding, Matthew Harding and Liliana Shaner.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, May 5th 2026 from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM at the Lasting Tributes Cremation & Funeral Care (814 Bestgate Rd, Annapolis, MD 21401). A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, May 5th 2026 from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM at the same location. Viewing was held on Tuesday, May 5th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Lasting Tributes Funeral Care (814 Bestgate Rd, Annapolis, MD 21401). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, May 5th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Tuesday, May 5th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Crownsville Veterans Cemetery (1122 Sunrise Beach Rd, Crownsville, MD 21032).
