He was predeceased by: his wife Gaila Jeanne Kaawalauole Townsend of Hawai'i; his daughter Melinda Townsend Ray of North Carolina; and his parents, Robert L. Townsend and Christine L. Manasco Townsend of Alabama. He is survived by: his children, Neal C. Townsend (Angela) of Ellicott City, MD and Debra Kaawalauole-Townsend of Kailua, HI.; his grandchildren, Joshua Jones, Jessica Jones Martin (Michael), Jennifer Jones Harrison (Michael), Shannon Marie Townsend, Ben James Townsend (Ashleigh) and Daniel Lee Townsend (Renata); and his great grandchildren, Paige Townsend, Margot Townsend, Llewyn Townsend, Beckett Townsend, Duke and Beau Harrison.
