He was predeceased by: his mother Lavinia Hoffman; and his brother Robert Johnson. He is survived by: his wife Michelle D. Chin; his parents-in-law, Ronald E. and Peggie Chin; his cousins, Lisa Hoffman and Kenneth Fink; his uncle Harold Hoffman; his aunt Barbara Fink; and his pet Penny.
