With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Elizabeth Garth Franke in Baltimore, Maryland, born in Charlottesville, Virginia, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on June 29, 2025 at the age of 98. She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Florence Brown Smith and James Wood Garth; her husband Edward Philip; and her children, Blair Garth Franke, Edward Philip Franke, III, Elizabeth Franke Deford and Anne Franke Porterfield. She was also cherished by her four children, eight grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
