Elsie Mae (Meredith) Flanagan Obituary
Mrs. Elsie Mae (Meredith) Flanagan, age 33, of Baltimore, Md., died Monday, October 2, 1961, at her residence after suffering injuries sustained by being struck by an automobile.
A native of Baltimore, she was born on May 30, 1928, and was a daughter of Jerry M. Meredith, of Baltimore, and the late Bessie Mae (Robinson) Meredith. In addition to her mother, she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jeremiah Meredith and Marion Meredith, and a sister, Pearl Meredith.
Mrs. Flanagan attended Baltimore public schools and was raised in Leadern Hall Baptist Church. She dedicated her life to serving others, working as a security guard at a club in Baltimore and later as a housekeeper. Her presence was a comfort to all who knew her.
Surviving in addition to her father are her husband, John W. Flanagan; two daughters, Miss Shirley P. Norris and Miss Sherrizan B. Flanagan, both at home; three sons, Mario J. Johnson, Ricky R. Flanagan, and Michael W. Flanagan, all at home; a stepson, Horace Flanagan; three sisters, Mrs. Florence Wilson, Mrs. Vertie Spears, and Mrs. Sophia Lyles; a brother, Norman Meredith; her paternal grandparents, Walter and Mrs. Florence Meredith; her stepmother; a stepbrother, and a stepsister, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, October 7, 1961, in Baltimore.
Internment will be in Meadowridge Memorial Park, Elkridge, Md.
