He was predeceased by: his wife Dorothy Fischer Nickerson; and his sister Thelma O'Grady. He is survived by: his children, Craig M. Nickerson (Drennan) and Stacey E. Nickerson (Henry Dusek); and his grandchildren, Brenda, Jeffrey Nickerson (Scott Fenton), Matthew (Sara) and Scott Dusek.

“I am saddened to learn of Fred Nickerson's passing and I send my heartfelt sympathy to his family. I have known Fred for many years as a colleague in the Baltimore County Schools and in these later years as a poker playing buddy until this pandemic put a stop to our gatherings. Fred was a pleasant gentleman and kind to everyone he encountered. I will miss his company should our poker group have a restart. Paul Plevyak”
