He is survived by: his wife Linda Mathews; his sister Lin McLain; his sister-in-law Mary-Carol "Wimp" Mathews; his son Herbert "Matt" Mathews III (Candyce); his nieces and nephews, Debbie "Dee" Wilson (Doug), Stuart McLain, Clay Mathews (Anna), David Mathews (Suzanne) and Tracy Mathews; his grandchildren, Maggie Brown (Jordan), Graham Mathews and Kelcey Trewin; his stepchildren, Holly Fox (David) and Matthew Bashforth (Kristin); and his stepgrandchildren, Alyssa Slater (Mitch), Caitlin Markowski (Joe), Jake Bashforth and Cooper Bashforth.
