He was predeceased by: his parents, LeRoy Nathaniel Burkhead, Sr. and Catherine Venetta Moon; and his brothers, LeRoy Burkhead (late Anne), Ronald Burkhead (Shirley), Ralph Burkhead (late Rose), James Burkhead and Raymond Burkhead.
He is survived by: his wife Frances Maria Burkhead (Mangano); his children, Maria Rosier (James) and John Burkhead, Jr. (Vera); his grandchildren, Collin Stewart, Jillian Rosier (Morgan), Micah Stewart (Lauren), Jimmy Rosier II, Zack Bennett (Tommie Lynn), Cameron Burkhead and Isabella Rush (Cody); his great grandchildren, Addison and Mason Anias; and his siblings, Robert Burkhead (Sandra), Catherine Joy (late Robert), Patricia Green (Bluett) and Douglas Burkhead (Leslie).
