He was predeceased by: his stepchildren, Stuart M. Hess, Joan Hess Gordon and Carol Ann Hess; his brother John E. Hess, Sr.; and his parents, Fanny Hess, and Lewis M. Hess, Sr..
He is survived by: his wife Lois W. Hess; his grandson Scott Gordon; and his son-in-law Hunter Gordon. He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren.
