She was predeceased by: her parents, Ruth Blackwell (Jones) and Hammett Blackwell; and her children, Wanda B. Hardy, Hammett D. Hardy and Kevin L. Hardy (Sandra Hardy).
She is survived by: her daughter Valerie M. Matthews (Clayton N. Matthews); her daughter-in-law Sandra Hardy; her siblings, James Smith, Christine Lester, Hedy Walters and Nannie L. Lester; and her goddaughter Adrienne Barrett. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren.
