He was predeceased by: his parents, Sarah Louise Wright and James Edward Hastey; his wife Joyce Rogers; his brothers, Wayne Louis Allsup, James Edward Walker Hastey, Jr. and Sidney Lovell Hastey; and his nephew Monterey Arkell Hastey, Sr..

He is survived by: his brother Samuel J. Hastey Sr.; his aunt Esther Mae Sharps; and his nieces and nephews, Kia Hastey Johnson, Sheree Coates, Tamara Hastey, Shenika Allsup, Jordan Walker, Sydney Symone Hastey, James Walker Hastey III, Delray Richardson, Samuel J. Hastey Jr., Emmanuel Hastey and Chazington Walker. He is also survived by great-nieces, great-nephews.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Reese & Sons Mortuary (1922 Forest Dr, Annapolis, MD 21401).
