He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon Hegstad and Mildred Hegstad. He is survived by: his wife Mickie (Whitman); his children, John Randall Hegstad (Sherry Cadow) of Los Angeles, Karen Lennon (Dan Lennon) of Whidbey Island, WA and Stephanie Hegstad (David Grosskopf) of Seattle; his grandchildren, Christina, Whitney Hegstad, Nate, Anna Lennon, Sophie, Amelia and Maisie Grosskopf; and his great grandchildren, Arthur Lennon and Billie Jensen.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 1st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Bel Air-McComas Family Funeral Home (50 W Broadway, Bel Air, MD 21014). A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 1st 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Tuesday, July 1st 2025 at the Bel Air Memorial Gardens (809 Rock Spring Rd, Bel Air, MD 21014).
Later in life, his work in medical technology ventures took him to upstate New York, where he continued to support civic causes as a member of the Board of Directors for the Boys & Girls Club of Schenectady and the Niskayuna Community Foundation.
