With sadness, we share the passing of Dolores Betty Petersen of Bel Air, Maryland. Dolores, born on November 13, 1934 in Baltimore, Maryland, passed away on October 12, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Oppelt and Ida Oppelt; her husband Pete; and her siblings, Margaret Gallagher, Rose Henry and John Oppelt.
She is survived by: her children, Jeannine Varley (Steve) of Fallston, Kristen Buckley (Mike) of Bel Air, Kathleen Gibbons (Francis) of Forest Hill and Eric Petersen of Laramie, Wyoming; her grandchildren, Derek Varley (Alyssa), Alex Varley (Stephanie), Brittany Williams (Kristopher), Courtney Varley, Drew Buckley (Amanda), Kevin Buckley (Lindsay), Ian Gibbons, Jack Gibbons (Sophia) and Sean Gibbons; and her great grandchildren, Madelyn, Shepherd, Levi, Olivia, Lilah and Hannah.
Visitation was held on Friday, October 16th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Schimunek Funeral Home of Bel Air (610 W MacPhail Rd, Bel Air, MD 21014). A funeral Mass was held on Saturday, October 17th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Saint Mark Roman Catholic Church (2407 Laurel Brook Rd, Fallston, MD 21047).
