It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James M. Akowskey Sr. of Berlin, Maryland, born in Washington, District of Columbia, who passed away on September 9, 2023, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Akowskey and Thelma Owens Akowskey; and his brother William D. Akowskey. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Akowskey; his children, James Akowskey, Jr. (Tammy) of Mechanicsville, MD, Michael Akowskey (Julia) of Waldorf, MD, William Anthony Akowskey (Kelly Ann) of Vancouver, WA, Diana Ropel (Steve) of North Beach, MD, Tammy Economes (Michael) of Prince Frederick, MD and Rebecca Gaynor (Lee) of Emporia, VA; and his siblings, Joseph Akowskey (Brenda) and Ruth Akowskey. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in the name of James Akowskey, Sr. to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital or Atlantic General Hospital in Berlin, MD.
