She was predeceased by: her parents, Orvan Speer and Ruby Hunt Speer; and her uncle Kermit Speer. She is survived by: her husband John Engquist (Berlin, MD); her daughters, Kristin Bergey (Ryan) of Berlin, MD and Laura Engquist of Washington, D. C.; her grandsons, James, John, Chase and Luke Bergey of Berlin, MD.; her brothers, Jeff Speer (Ellen), Stan Speer (Mary Beth) and Bruce Speer (Joni); and her caregivers, Kelly Thomas, Amy Brown, Bo, Katie, Melissa, Heather and Dr. William "Eddie" Gunn. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, extended family, and cherished friends.
