He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Franklin Grimes, Sr. and Jessie E. Burdette Grimes; and his granddaughter Denise Grimes. He is survived by: his wife Joan Atwood Grimes; his children, Dean Grimes (Susan) of New Market, MD, Thomas Wayne Grimes of White Oak, MD and Scott Grimes of Texas; and his siblings, Samuel Grimes (Anna) of Mt. Airy, MD and Roberta Grimes of Frederick, MD. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
