It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Vivian P. Smith of Berlin, Maryland, who passed away on February 16, 2023, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Foster Purnell and Victoria Purnell Hudson; her husband John Smith, Sr.; her children, John Smith, Jr., Steven Smith, Sr. and Joyce Joynes; and her grandson DaLetez Smith, Sr. (Smith).
She is survived by: her children, Byron Trenton Smith, Marilyn Hayward (Ashley), Audrey Shockley (Ronnie, Sr.), Bernida Marshall and Jane Wharton (Jerome, Sr.); her siblings, Oliver Hudson (Rose), Daniel Hudson (Lorraine), Joey Purnell and Shirley Beckett; and her godchildren, Lynn Smack (Shannon), Makeita Hayman (Wayne, Sr.) and Diameka Fletcher. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, in-laws, and friends.
