He was predeceased by : his parents, William E. Steward, Sr. and Margarette "Ginny" V Steward (Charles); his daughter Deneb Thomas; his grandson James Thomas; and his siblings, Butch Steward and Margie Marine.

He is survived by : his wife JoAnn Steward; his children, William E. Steward, III, Scott D. Steward and Colleen Yezek (Chris); his brother Donald V. Steward (Tammy); and his grandchildren, William E. Steward, IV, Branden C. Steward (Mallory), Justin Tierce (Kristen), Matthew Yezek and Danielle Yezek. He is also survived by his seven great-grandchildren.

In Lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made in William's memory to the Ocean Pines Volunteer Fire Company, 911 Ocean Parkway, Ocean Pines, MD 21811, or Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.
