John Adair Whitney Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of John Adair Whitney of Bethesda, Maryland, who passed away on October 12, 2025 at the age of 93. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Nathaniel Ruggles Whitney and Procter; his wife Linda Leary; his son William Nathaniel Whitney (Bill); and his brothers, Nathaniel Ruggles Whitney, Dickson Loos Whitney and James Bradish Whitney.
He is survived by: his daughters, Jane Whitney McGreevy (Brian) and Anne Whitney Marculewicz (Stefan); his grandchildren, John Whitney McGreevy (Mary Pat), Zachary Alton Whitney (Kimmy), Amy McGreevy Rabb (Michael), Mary Hollis McGreevy Bonnoitt (Mark), Charles Brooks Marculewicz, Anne Lefevre McGreevy, Benjamin Whitney Marculewicz and Alexander Adair Whitney; his great grandchildren, Jackson McGreevy, Mary Dargan McGreevy (Mamie), John Henry McGreevy and John Woodson Rabb (Woods); Dr. Rondalyn Varney Whitney.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 25th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Bethesda Presbyterian Church (7611 Clarendon Rd, Bethesda, MD 20814).
