He was predeceased by: his parents, Brooks Horner and Essie Horner of Bivalve, MD.; and his former wife Joyce Ward Horner. He is survived by: his wife Nancy; his daughter Susan Jordan (John); his grandsons, Noah and Ben; his cousin Tom Dorman (Nancy); his stepdaughters, Amanda Carlisle (Chris) and Dr. Victoria Derr; his brother-in-law Craig Hackett (Marcia); his nephews, Scott Hackett (Josh Goodyear) and Christopher Hackett (Lizzie); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Evelyn, Emerson and August; his close friends, John, Joan and Jennifer Jordan; Ellen Masters (Andy), Elizabeth, Nicholas and Amy Cox (Chris).
