It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Charles Otho Smith of Boonsboro, Maryland, who passed away on September 4, 2025, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Woodrow Smith and Edna Elizabeth Tracey (Souders); his grandparents, Annie and Meade Smith; and his brother Leroy Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Viola Smith; his children, Faith Ann Etheridge (Skip), Timothy Charles Smith (Jeanne), Fred D. Smith (Jo Anne) and Jeri Lyn Roberts (Brian); his grandchildren, Casey, Kara, Caitlin, Zach, Blake and Daniel; his great grandchildren, Aiden, Aubrey, Marleigh, Judah, Hudson, Charlotte, Hailey, Emma, Sophia and Ezekiel; and his siblings, Mary Jane Grayhouser, Hazel Bryan, Irene Lear and James Smith. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 8th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home (1331 Eastern Blvd N, Hagerstown, MD 21742). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 9th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Virginia Avenue Church of God (17306 Virginia Ave, Hagerstown, MD 21740).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Virginia Avenue Church of God or to Hospice of Washington County, 1710 Underpass Way, Suite 300, Hagerstown, MD 21740.
