He is survived by: his children, Ellis "EJ" Carter, Jr. and Alexis Carter; and his siblings, Nobe Banks, Vera Myles, Shirley Shanklin, Sophronia Thomas, Jacqueline Smith, Roy Carter, Bobby Williams and Michael Porter. He is also survived by nieces and nephews; other relatives and dear friends.
