With sadness, we share the passing of Merton Leroy Canter Jr. (Bowie, Maryland). Merton, born on July 10, 1934, passed away on June 5, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Merton L. Canter, Sr. and Mary Canter; and his son Leroy Canter. He is survived by: his wife Mary Etta Canter; his children, Earle Canter (Nancy), Lynn Hansford (Doug), Billy Canter (Faye) and Kenneth Canter; and his grandchildren, Stephen, Stacey, Melissa, Jennifer, Billy Jr., Brittni, Andrew, Amanda and Kenneth Jr.. He is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Merton's memory to the Parkinson's Foundation (http://www.parkinson.org) or the Skin Cancer Foundation.
